Eastern AA Track & Field Championships

On a hot day at Peterborough, Beth Greenwood, Ellis Stewart and Hollie Willeard represented GYDAC at the Eastern Counties Athletics Championships. The day started with the 100m, were Hollie qualified for the final as 8th fastest with a new PB of 15.21. In the U15s Ellis unfortunately had to pull put out on the start line due to a shoulder injury. In the final Hollie couldn’t improve on 8th but did run another PB of 15.14.

Next up was the hurdles, where Hollie finished 5th in a very competitive high quality final. In the U15s race, Beth finished 6th in a new PB of 13.3. Beth also managed a very creditable 5th place in the long jump.

Having already pulled out of the 100m and the hurdles, Ellis decided she would give the triple jump ago, determined not to let her injury stop her from competing. Despite struggling with her shoulder as well as her run up, she saved her best jump for the final round to jump 8.81m to win the bronze medal. Hollie wrapped up the day for the 3 athletes in the long jump were she managed a second PB of the day to jump 3.67m.
