GYDAC News

It has been a busy few weeks with various competitions taking place over the last 3 weekends. The 26th May saw Round 1 of the East Anglian League with excellent performances all round and good attendance by most of our regular athletes. Although we still need more boys competing, to improve on their league position. As you will all recall each team needs to finish in the top 8 to qualify for the end of season final. After Round 1, several GYDAC teams are well positioned.

The next round of the East Anglian League takes place on 23rd June at Gt Yarmouth, the team sheets are already in the tea hut for athletes to sign up. Lets make sure we build on Round 1 and fill as many events as possible, even it means competing in something you wouldn’t normally do, to ensure we get as many teams as possible to the final. If you have any queries please speak to your team manager. This is our home meeting, so in addition to our normal team of officials we will also need volunteers to help in the tea hut, setting up equipment, etc. Please don’t leave it to someone else, even if you can only offer your help for an hour at would be greatly appeciated

Following round 1 of the East Anglian League, GYDAC athletes travelled to Cambridge as part of Team Norfolk at Round 3 of the Eastern Young Athletes League on 2 June, where performance of the day would have to go to Ellis Stewart for increasing her own triple jump club record by 50cms to 10.54m. Well done Ellis.

This weekend, despite the miserable weather yesterday Carla Richardson-Rowe, Sophie Rushmere, Ellis Stewart, Isabel Matthews-Clark, Hollie Willeard, Tyler Bilyard and Daniel Harrison attended the Norfolk Schools AA championships, winning numerous gold medals.

In addition to the above, the following meetings are also coming up during the next month:

23rd June East Anglian League Round 2 – Gt Yarmouth

30th June Quadkids round 4 – Holt

30th June Eastern AA Track & Field Championships (enter online by 14th June) - Cambridge

7th July Eastern Young Athletes League Round 4 - Cambridge
