About Us

Learn a little about our club and how you can get involved

Formed in 1973, Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Cub offers a warm and friendly welcome to athletes of all abilities.

It is important to note that younger athletes MUST be 8 years old AND in school year 4 before they can come and train with us. We do not have an upper age limit so its never too late to start!

Our team of qualified coaches are available to teach a range of athletic disciplines that include running sprinting, jumping and throwing and will encourage you to reach your full athletic potential.

Throughout the year we meet every Thursday evening at 6:45pm at the Wellesley Recreation Ground in Great Yarmouth. Training begins at 7:00pm and, depending on what our coaches have planned, generally finishes between 8:15pm and 8:30pm.

In addition to Thursday evenings at the track we also train on Monday or Tuesday evenings throughout the year. Full details of our training schedule and session fees are available on our training schedule and fees page.

You are more than welcome to come and visit us during a training evening to see what we have to offer. Ask for Alan Jones, our head of coaching, who will be able to assist you further. In Alan's absence, any member of our team will do all they can to help.

Your first training session with us is FREE! Thereafter we ask for £4.00 per session from non members. You are allowed a further three sessions with us until we ask that you make the decision whether or not you would like to join our club. In doing so, not only do you benefit from a reduction of 50% on your training fees; reduced to £2.00, but you can also represent the club in important East Anglian League meetings held throughout the Spring and Summer each year along with other athletic fixtures and road races. Further details about becoming a member of our club are available on our membership page.

We are not just focused on track and field athletics though! We also have a dedicated and expanding road running section. Each year they organise and host the Humpty Dumpty 10K and Freethorpe Ten road races. These popular races are growing every year and the latest online entry and recent results are available on our races page.
